Community
partners-- such as community centers, non-profit agencies, and afterschool
club--play an integral role in this new model of research and learning.
Community partners offer the placements that link with Duke courses and
faculty to provide the context for service-learning and research. Read
below for more information on why and how you can become involved in Scholarship
with a Civic Mission, how service-learning works at Duke and how we hope
to enrich this pedagogy with research that is immediately relevant to
the community, and how to apply for funding to support your efforts. If
you're not sure you're ready to work with a project or class, you can
tell us about your organization by completing the Information Form at
the bottom of this page. This is a way for us to get to know the work
you do and your possible research needs as we grow this program.
